Why consider Invisalign?
Everyone wants to feel confident with their smile and a research by the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry has shown that 47% of people notice your smile when they meet you for the first time.
And did you know that straighter teeth not only look better but are healthier too?
The bacteria which cause dental decay like to hide in between your teeth causing cavities, it is therefore imperative that you clean in between your teeth at least once per day using floss or interdental brushes. The problem with crooked teeth is that these in between areas can be very difficult to reach.
Straight teeth are far easier to thread floss through or push an interdental brush into, straighter really is healthier!
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is the perfect fusion of dentistry and modern technology. Your smile will be digitally accessed using the most up-to-date computer design techniques. You can then even watch your teeth move on the screen from their current position to their new proposed position, using a technique called a Clincheck ®.
Once the computer has digitally created your new smile it will break this down into a number of steps, typically 26 steps per year. Each step requires a new clear orthodontic aligner which you will wear for about two weeks. Each aligner moves your teeth just a small bit towards your final result.

How do I know if I am suitable for Invisalign
Invisalign is typically suited to patients wanting straighter front teeth on either the top or bottom. Complex back teeth movement which involves rearranging the way your teeth bite may not be possible using Invisalign.
Patients also need to be 18 years or older to be suitable for Invisalign.
If you choose Invisalign you also need to be willing to wear your aligners for at least 20 hours per day removing them only to eat and clean. One of the biggest reasons that Invisalign doesn’t work is due to non-compliance to this rule. Sometimes fixed orthodontic braces are more effective simply because they can’t be taken out!
Does Invisalign hurt?
There could be some discomfort during the initial stages of tooth movement. The way orthodontics works is to introduce constant but steady pressure on your teeth. This results in you only feeling light pressure on the teeth. You would not experience any pain, just some discomfort, which means the teeth are moving.
