Mouth Cancer Screening Day

Mouth Cancer is on the increase, but if detected early and treated, you can improve your chances of survival.

On Saturday 10th March, We will be open, just to give advice and offer a visual mouth cancer check. This is all completely free of charge, and is available to anyone, so please tell any friends or family who would be interested.

Self examinations are quick and easy to do. What to look for:

1. A sore or ulcer in the mouth that does not heal within three weeks

2. A lumpor overgrowth of tissue anywhere in the mouth

3. A white or red patch on the gums, tongue, or lining in the mouth

4. Difficulty swallowing

5. Difficulty in chewing or moving the jaw or tongue

6. Numbness of the tongue or other area of the mouth

7. A feeling that something is caught in the throat

8. A chronic sore throat or voice change (hoarseness) that persists more than six weeks, particularly smokers over 50 years old and heavy drinkers

9. Swelling of the hawthat causes dentures to fit poorly or become uncomfortable

10. Neck swelling present for more than three weeks

11. unexplained tooth mobility persisting for more than three weeks – see a dentist urgently

12. Persistent nasal (especially unilateral) nasal obstruction, particularly assosiated with mucus (clear, purulent or bloody) discharge causing difficulty breathing through the nose

13. Unexplained persistent earache

In its very early stages, mouth cancers can be almost invisible making it easy to ignore.

These are some of the Ways to reduce chances of getting these cancers:

1)   Not smoking or chewing tobacco, gutkha/paan
2)   Limiting alcohol consumption
3)   Having a healthier “low meat, low fat” diet, rich in vegetables and fruit with servings of bread, cereals or beans everyday

Our Membership Plans!

After your New Patient Examination and Hygiene Visit you can join one of our membership plans!

Option 1 – £6.95 per month which includes one check up and one hygiene visit per year, routine X-rays, Dental Accident Emergency insurance and members prices on any additional treatment.

Option 2 – £11.65 per month which includes two check ups and two hygiene visits per year, routine X-rays, Dental Accident Emergency insurance and members prices on any additional treatment.

Option 3 – £9.80 per month which includes one check up per year and two hygiene visits per year, routine X-rays, Dental Accident Emergency insurance and members prices on any additional treatment.

Option 4 - £4.75 per month which includes one check up per year, routine X-rays, Dental Accident Emergency insurance and members prices on any additional treatment.

If either of the above options are chosen, the initial examination, X-rays & hygiene visit are payable first.

Private Pay as you Go – No Registration Fee, You would pay for the treatment as required, including the cost of a check- up £35.00; cost of a hygiene visit £54.00 as required; cost of Xrays £9.20 each. This option does not include Dental Accident & Emergency insurance or discounts off additional treatment.
