A bridge is a simple solution if there is a single tooth missing. A false tooth is fitted in the gap and attached to the teeth either side of the gap, preventing teeth from slanting inwards and causing food to be trapped that may then cause gum disease or tooth decay.
If there are multiple teeth missing, it may be better to create a bespoke fitted denture to replace the missing teeth and restore the full use of your mouth for eating and drinking. Your dentist will be able to advise you on the best choice of denture to suit your lifestyle and needs.
We offer bridges in different material depending on the aesthetic need of the patient. Our standard bridge is made from metal to secure to the remaining teeth and porcelain which the tooth itself is made of. We do offer a Zirconium bridge for front teeth or aesthetic purposes which shows no metal.
Ever-stick is another material used for Bridges in which a fibre is placed and teeth are built up against the fibre.
If you lose a tooth for any reason, you will of course have a gap left. Sometimes this does not cause any further problems, but the gap may put additional strain on the teeth surrounding the space and may even affect your ‘bite’. Eventually the teeth may slowly lean in at an angle, creating a hard to reach space for cleaning and where food can become compacted.
A denture is a simple and effective way of replacing single or multiple teeth, giving you back your chewing functionality. At Whole Tooth your dentist will be able to advise you on the best type of denture to help your situation and if needed we may be able to add additional teeth to an existing denture.
